This month, my congratulations go to five major gaming tribes. The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, the Morongo Band of Mission Indians, the Pechanga Band of Luise’o Indians and the Sycuan Bank of the Kumeyaay Nation earned a major victory in the fight to maintain sovereignty this summer. After months and months of negotiation, stalemate and political haggling, these powerhouses of Indian Gaming in California have their new compacts.
