Ernie Stevens Jr., chairman of the National Indian Gaming Association, celebrates a record-breaking show while visiting with Casino Enterprise Management. With more than 5,500 people registered for the convention and every booth on the trade show floor occupied, Stevens calls the growing tribal gaming industry a giant family that “extends beyond our communities.” Focusing on Internet gaming, taxation and tribal sovereignty at Indian Gaming 2012, he adds his main goal is to help the public better understand tribal governments.

The topic of Internet gaming at industry trade shows and conferences has focused on the legal and political aspects of Internet gaming. This focus has not helped regulators with addressing their biggest need—regulating it! This session focuses on the task of regulating Internet gaming and covers how regulators will regulate areas, such as age verification, bet controls, player accounts, player protection, software requirements, RNG requirements, data logging, server and site security for Internet gaming. This session is a first in the industry and a must-watch for regulatory bodies wanting to know more about regulating Internet gaming.

In this roundtable discussion in the operations track, industry leaders discuss and debate open protocols, open networks and server-based gaming. Class II gaming is a vital part of the socioeconomic framework for gaming tribes. Class II has seen everything from historic pieces of legislation and court decisions to advances in technology such as server-based gaming. With so much to learn and understand about Class II gaming, it's hard to know where to start. Panelists cover topics including  one-touch versus two-touch, technical standards and court rulings, Internet gaming and more.
