07/21/2004 - Caesars Entertainment and Avero Break New Ground in Restaurant Management

Bally's, Flamingo and Paris Las Vegas resorts are first to manage all food and beverage operations with Slingshot Business Intelligence

LAS VEGAS, July 20 -- Caesars Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:CZR) , one of the gaming industry's leaders in adopting advanced technology, has become the first hotel-casino enterprise to use Avero's Slingshot business-intelligence software to manage all of its food and beverage operations across several resorts.

The company has installed Slingshot in Bally's Las Vegas, Flamingo Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas -- three landmark casino resorts that feature a total of 53 food and beverage outlets. Slingshot integrates with Caesars' existing Infogenesis point-of-sale system and converts information about customer menu and bar selections into business intelligence.

With Slingshot, Caesars' managers have a tool that can help them improve customer satisfaction, increase revenue, and better manage their food, beverage, labor and promotion costs. Among other things, Slingshot enables restaurant managers to quickly identify customers' changing tastes and adjust menus accordingly.

"Food and beverage has become a strategic weapon for gaming operators," says Damian Mogavero, CEO of Avero, Inc. "It plays a vital role in driving gaming revenue and retaining and rewarding gaming customers. At Avero, we see a huge opportunity for clients like Caesars Entertainment to leverage Slingshot's business intelligence tools in their F&B; operation and become even more efficient and profitable. We are pleased to be partnering with them to accomplish their business goals."

Caesars Entertainment conducted a 90-day pilot with Slingshot and established clearly defined goals and benchmarks for success. The company's objectives were: 1) measurement of Slingshot's ability to improve server sales productivity; 2) administration and tracking of incentive programs; and 3) increases in overall food and beverage revenue.

"We were very pleased with the results of our Avero pilot," said Caesars Entertainment Senior Vice President Anthony F. Santo. "We saw a significant increase in our margins, but we were even more pleased by the positive response from our managers and servers. We increased the effectiveness of our employee incentive programs because they're so much easier to track with Slingshot. Our server training improved as a result, and everyone was a winner with more opportunities to gain bigger rewards from increased sales and promotion."

Like Mogavero, Santo cites customer retention, quality service and increased profits as the goals of using Slingshot. "Caesars Entertainment has been aggressively investing in new technology in recent years to ensure that our guests enjoy themselves and to improve our financial performance," Santo said. "Slingshot is the latest example of our commitment to use technology intelligently to accomplish both goals. Based on our experience with Slingshot so far, we believe this is another good investment that will pay off, for our customers and for us."
