| 07/02/2004 - GSA Launches Web-based Compliance Testing Program Program Tests SAS; Soon Will Test BOB, S2S
LAS VEGAS -- The Gaming Standards Association (GSA) has developed and launched a compliance testing program for its standards. Effective immediately, GSA members can submit requests for SAS(TM) 6.01 testing compliance through the organization's website, gamingstandards.com. In the near future, members will also be able to test against the recently released Best of Breed (BOB) and System-to-System (S2S) standards, as well as the upcoming Gaming Device Systems (GDS) and future GSA standards.
GSA compliance will assure manufacturers, operators and regulators that equipment has been tested and complies with GSA standards. The compliance testing program gives GSA members access to an impartial testing facility for integrated testing of GSA standards, and compliance with GSA standards is tested independently against pre-defined test scripts.
GSA President Peter DeRaedt said, "While it is important to note that compliance is a performance benchmark, and not a regulatory approval, we believe the compliance testing program is another valuable benefit to GSA membership."
Testing and compliance will allow products to bear the GSA Compliant seal. Being GSA compliant will decrease time to market and allow for more efficient installations in the gaming environment. Compliance will also reduce follow-up service calls, the quantity and variety of required testing, the regulatory cycle with enhanced pre-testing, and enable better forensic analysis that will allow more efficient dispute resolution.
Currently GSA is developing a BOB tool kit. After its release, GSA members will be able to request BOB compliance testing, as is currently allowed with the GSA SAS 6.01 Tool Kit.
Meanwhile, GSA is providing its landmark GSA SAS(TM) 6.01 Tool Kit, in addition to review copies of the BOB and S2S standards, to gaming regulators, free of charge. GSA Board Chairman Gregg Solomon said, "From its inception, GSA has been committed to bettering the industry. We have done so with the SAS(TM) Tool Kit, and it makes perfect sense to follow through in our goal to improve the industry by supplying the Tool Kit to regulators free of charge. It is the right thing to do, and will help to further needed standardization."
The milestone GSA SAS(TM) 6.01 Tool Kit enables game developers and manufacturers to deliver SAS(TM) 6.01 on a more rapid basis. SAS(TM) is currently the core of communication in the casino, and the tool kit allows implementation of the protocol both on the game and system level prior to submitting it to testing authorities and shipping to operators.
