| 03/28/2003 - Tribal Operators to Join GSA LAS VEGAS, March 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The Gaming Standards Association (GSA), an international trade association that defines, develops and promotes interoperability standards for the gaming industry, today announced that Foxwoods Resort & Casino, located in Connecticut as well as the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma Business Development Authority ("MBDA") have joined the membership of the GSA.
"Foxwoods and the MBDA memberships are of great significance to the continued success of the GSA," stated Peter DeRaedt, president of GSA. "Gaining support from Foxwoods, the largest tribal casino in the United States is a tremendous boost for our organization. Foxwoods understands the challenges involved in integrating gaming and non-gaming equipment and systems and how standards can alleviate many of these challenges." Foxwoods Resort & Casino boasts 6,400 slot / video games, 350 table games and the worlds largest bingo hall.
DeRaedt foresees Foxwoods and MBDA participation in the GSA as a stepping-stone for the organization to cultivate more members in the Indian Gaming sector. "Tribal casino's tend to be open to new technologies, thus their insight and input is greatly desired for the standards currently being developed by GSA and its members. It is a clear indication of the tribal operators' desire to employ the latest standard technology in the gaming business, as they are currently evolving and refining their class II WAN linking over 55 Indian casino's in 13 states to class III standards."
