03/19/2004 - Carnegie Cooke Opens OTB in Campos, Rio de Janeiro

LOS ANGELES, March 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Carnegie Cooke & Company, Inc. , an authorized provider of gaming services in Brazil, announced today the opening of its newly completed Race Book in Campos, Rio de Janeiro.

"The state-of-the-art wagering center has drawn considerable attention and plaudits," said Mark Goldberg, chief operating and financial officer, who returned this week from Brazil, where he oversaw preparations for the opening of the Campos facility. "As planned, it offers simulcast transmissions of horse races on which patrons could wager."

Carnegie opened the OTB under its contract with the Jockey Club de Campos, Brazil's third largest club, as measured by wagering volume. That agreement, which was announced last October 30, has the two companies working in partnership to modernize and expand operations at the club, and allows Carnegie to install race books at the club and at key locations in the region covered by the club's franchise.
