| 03/15/2004 - GLI, GSA Extend Commitment For Interoperability Center Contract Extends GLI’s Testing Of Devices And Systems For GSA Standards Compliance
LAS VEGAS (March 10, 2004) – Gaming Laboratories International (GLI), the world’s premier gaming products and systems testing company, has extended its commitment to maintain its interoperability center for the benefit of the Gaming Standards Association (GSA) and its membership. In a renewed contract, GLI will continue to act as the GSA’s sole interoperability gaming test lab for a specified length of time, testing devices and systems for GSA standards compliance.
Testing has been and will continue to be conducted at GLI’s Las Vegas office, where a staff of more than 30 engineers and support staff operate the 18,000 square foot laboratory. The Interoperability Center, the only one of its kind anywhere in the world, acts as a final check point for regulators, suppliers and operators to ensure that devices and systems are compatible. It was created nearly two years ago and continues to expand with new products and systems being delivered daily.
GSA President Peter DeRaedt said, “GSA’s primary concern was to enlist a qualified lab to provide impartial testing results with regard to whether or not equipment submitted by GSA implementers does in fact comply with GSA standards and specifications. We found exactly what we were looking for in GLI last year, and are happy to extend the contract. It will allow us to work more closely together in enhancing the GSA compliance program to the benefit of the entire gaming industry.”
GLI President and CEO, James R. Maida said, “We have assembled virtually every gaming device and system at the Interoperability Center, and have demonstrated successful and accurate tests for GSA compliance. We support GSA’s efforts to bring standards to the industry and are honored to play such a critical role in that effort.”
Since its 2001 opening, GLI’s interoperability center has received a very positive response from the gaming industry, and now houses systems and games from virtually every manufacturer. The lab is also where all the newest technology in the gaming industry is tested, and is currently completing its second year of successful ticket-in/ticket-out testing for the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
Gaming Laboratories International, Inc. currently operates wholly owned and fully staffed gaming test laboratories in Lakewood, New Jersey; Golden, Colorado; Las Vegas, Nevada; GLI Europe, B.V. in Hillegom, The Netherlands; GLI Africa in Midrand, South Africa and provides test and evaluation services in the Australasian jurisdictions through Gaming Laboratories Australia under license in Adelaide and Sydney. GLI employees number approximately 275 worldwide, providing more than 60,000 certifications annually to over 360 gaming regulatory bodies worldwide. GLI was founded in 1989 by James R. Maida and Paul J. Magno and was the first independent laboratory of its kind.
