| 03/19/2003 - North American Video Installing World’s Largest Matrix Switcher At New Borgata Massive Pelco Matrix Switcher To Handle Over 1700 Cameras.
Brick, NJ (March 17, 2003) North America Video’s video surveillance and security system installation at Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa at Renaissance Pointe in Atlantic City, New Jersey is in full swing in preparation of the mega-casino’s opening this summer. Borgata, which will be the first new casino hotel in 13 years in Atlantic City, will feature what many believe will be one of the world’s largest matrix switching systems.
The massive video surveillance and security system has been designed in conjunction with Boyd Gaming and North American Video. North American Video has sub-
contracted with Petrocelli/Palmieri Electric to run the hundreds of miles of cable required to install the system’s over 1,700 cameras.
Greg Schaff, Director of Surveillance for Borgata, commented on the installation, “Our video surveillance and security system will be among the best in our industry. I am very excited to be a part of such a well-designed and an advanced system.”
Ron Freschi, Director, Large System Sales for North American Video, added, “This is one of the largest and most advanced video surveillance installations in the world. Despite the huge volume of hardware we are installing, this system will be easy to program and operate given the advanced systems technologies we’ve integrated into the system’s design.”
At the heart of Borgata’s video surveillance system is a massive Pelco CM9760 1312 X 64 matrix switching system. A second Pelco CM9760 896 X 16 matrix switcher is installed as a satellite controller in Borgata’s security offices. North American Video has closely supervised construction and transportation of the system from Pelco’s assembly plant in California across the United States to the Borgata in Atlantic City. The matrix switcher is now in place in Borgata’s security command center, where it will be commissioned by North American Video over the next few weeks.
North American Video has been working closely with Borgata’s management team and construction crews throughout the project to assure the highest levels of coordination. The entire project is scheduled for completion late in the spring. The final weeks of the project will be used to fine-tune the system’s programming and to fully train Borgata’s security staff on the new system in preparation for a summer 2003 opening.
Borgata, a $1 billion joint venture with Boyd Gaming Corporation and MGM MIRAGE, is located at Renaissance Pointe in Atlantic City, NJ. The property will feature 2,002 guest rooms and suites, 135,000 square feet of gaming, 11 destination restaurants, 11 retail shops, a European sap, 70,000 square feet of event space and parking for 7,100 cars.
