At last night’s 23rd annual Gaming Hall of Fame Charity Dinner and Induction Ceremony, members of the gaming industry gathered to honor Sheldon G. Adelson, Blue Man Group, Charlie Palmer and Dr. William Eadington for their unique achievements and contributions to the gaming industry. Induction into the Gaming Hall of Fame is the highest honor accorded by the gaming-entertainment industry.

As part of their year-round efforts to encourage people to gamble responsibly, casinos and gaming companies across the country are joining together with the American Gaming Association and the National Center for Responsible Gaming for the 14th annual Responsible Gaming Education Week (RGEW).

It was a round well played! Representatives from across the gaming industry “gripped it and ripped it” to support research on gambling and responsible gaming education at the recent 13th annual AGEM/AGA Golf Classic presented by JCM Global. The event raised $100,000 for the National Center for Responsible Gaming (NCRG).

Dr. Jon Grant, a leading international expert on the course and treatment of gambling disorders, and Dr. Anna Goudriaan, a rising expert in the neurocognitive bases of pathological gambling, will be honored today with the National Center for Responsible Gaming (NCRG) Scientific Achievement Awards in the Senior Investigator and Young Investigator categories, respectively.

Representatives from the National Center for Responsible Gaming (NCRG) and the Task Force on College Gambling Policies spoke to a broad audience this morning about incorporating gambling disorders into existing campus health considerations and the importance of creating science-based policies and programs to address gambling on campus.

For the nearly 80 percent of colleges and universities in the U.S. without a written policy on gambling, the release today of official recommendations from the national Task Force on College Gambling Policies will provide a solid, science-based framework that higher education institutions can use to fill this void.
